Lawrence McDonald

Lawrence McDonald was professor of clarinet at Oberlin Conservatory of Music. Active as 

a chamber musician, he has appeared in concerts at Carnegie Hall, the Library of 

Congress, the Metropolitan Museum, and on the Great Performers series at Lincoln Center. 

He is a member of Ensemble Pierrot, the Smithsonian Chamber Players and the Oberlin 

Reed Trio. Mr. McDonald has special interests in the performance of new music and of 

early music on original instruments. He has recorded the Mozart Concerto, Quintet, and 

Trio for Smithsonian Recordings, and as a founding member of Amadeus Winds, a 

classical wind octet, has recorded the wind music of Mozart for Decca Records. He was 

Artistic Director of the 1985 International Clarinet Society Conference.
