Soprano Sherezade Panthaki has been praised by critics as “luminous” and “exquisitely supple” (The New York Times), "a radiant voiced stand-out" (the Washington Post), having "shimmering sensitivity" (the Cleveland Plain Dealer), "crystalline top notes" (the Houston Chronicle), and is in constant demand as an oratorio soloist. An acclaimed specialist in early music and particularly in the works of J.S. Bach, Ms.Panthaki's recent and upcoming seasons as soprano soloist include performances with the New York Philharmonic (2013 debut), the Netherlands Radio Orchestra (Holland), Philharmonia Baroque (San Francisco), the Houston Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of St. Luke's (NYC), the Choir and Orchestra of St Thomas Church Fifth Avenue (NYC), the Washington National Cathedral, the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, in collaboration with conductors Nicholas McGegan, Masaaki Suzuki, William Christie, John Scott, Simon Carrington, J. Reilly Lewis, Giancarlo Guerrero, Hans Graf, and many more. In New York city she is a frequent soloist with the most accomplished early music ensembles, including the choir and orchestra of Trinity Church Wall Street, and the Clarion Music Ensemble. Her repertoire as soloist frequently includes such prominent masterworks as Bach's St. Matthew PassionSt. John Passion,Christmas OratorioMass in B minorCantata 51; Handel's SolomonMessiah, Saul, Gloria, and Israel in Egypt; Haydn's Creation; Poulenc's Gloria and Stabat Mater; Orff's Carmina Burana, Stravinsky's Les Noces, as well as hundreds of cantatas, motets and early operas. In 2014-15 she will sing the title role of Galatea in a brand new production of Handel's Acis and Galatea for an extensive US tour with the Mark Morris Dance Group. Ms. Panthaki holds an Artist Diploma from the Yale School of Music and Yale Institute of Sacred Music – a program that accepts only one soprano a year – and is the winner of several distinguished awards, including Yale's coveted Phyllis Curtin Career Entry Prize.
