Symposium 118

The Bohemians
May 15, 2016
May 16, 2016

We close our season with two Czech composers who helped to return the concept of Bohemia away from the romantic notions of Carmen and La Bohème and back to its native land. Dvorak and Janacek celebrated the music of their homeland through the use of folk melodies, incorporating them even in music for the New World. We conclude our program with the beloved “American” quartet.
